Guide
Euchre tournament formats
The format decides who plays with whom, how the winner is chosen and how long the event runs. Here's how the main ones compare.
| Format | Partners | Who wins | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Progressive | New every round | Best individual total | Clubs, fundraisers, anyone coming alone |
| Doubles | The same all event | Best pair | Players with a regular partner |
| Bracketed | Either | Last team standing | A big finish |
| Qualifier series | Either | The Finals | A season building to one event |
| Head-to-head league | Fixed teams | Top of the table | Teams playing week after week |
How to choose
- Will people come alone? Choose progressive, so nobody needs a partner.
- Do people have regular partners? Choose doubles, or run a singles and a doubles side by side at a big event.
- Do you want a finale? Play ordinary rounds first, then send the leaders into a bracket.
- Are you planning a whole season? Choose a qualifier series or a league.
