How a doubles euchre tournament works

In a doubles tournament, two partners stay together all event and are scored as one team. The pair with the best result wins.

How it works

  1. Players enter as a pair.
  2. Each round, every pair meets a different pair.
  3. The pair's score adds up from round to round.
  4. The best pair at the end wins, or the leaders go on to a bracket.

Doubles or progressive?

Doubles suits players with a regular partner who like reading each other's game. Progressive suits anyone coming alone. Big events often run both. You can pause a singles tournament partway through, play the doubles with the same people, and return to it.

Odd numbers of pairs

With an odd number of pairs, one pair sits out each round. Take turns, and add make-up rounds at the end so every pair plays the same number.

Keep the stats apart

A doubles result says something different from a singles result, because it belongs to the pair. Keep them separate, so a good partnership doesn't change a player's personal record.

Doubles in Euchre Clubhouse

The app keeps doubles and singles statistics apart, and can run one of each at the same time. Watch it run.
