What is progressive euchre?

Progressive euchre is a tournament where you play with a new partner every round and keep your own score. The player with the highest total at the end wins.

How it works

  1. Players are seated in fours at numbered tables, with the person across from them as their partner.
  2. Each table plays a round, either a game to 10 or a set number of hands.
  3. Both partners record the team's score as their own.
  4. Everyone moves to their next table and partner, and the scores keep adding up.

Eight rounds is usual, and some tournaments go to 12. Because each player scores on their own, you don't need to bring a partner, and you'll meet most of the room.

Why clubs choose it

  • Anyone can come alone.
  • A strong partner in one round doesn't decide the whole event.
  • It's social, which suits clubs and fundraisers.

The hard parts

Seating: working out who sits where without repeating partners is hard to do by hand. Our free rotation charts do it for 8 to 40 players.

Odd numbers: when the count doesn't divide by four, some players sit out each round. Make-up rounds even that out, so everyone earns their points from the same number of rounds.

Adding up: with a total for every player, one mistake can change the winner. Print our score sheets, and have both teams agree on each score before moving.

Progressive, handled

Euchre Clubhouse seats every round, adds up every score and shows the leaders live. If someone leaves, it redraws the remaining rounds. Watch it run.
