Live tournament management
How to handle players leaving, running late, a fresh draw and ending early, all from one screen.
Whatever the tournament throws at you.
What the video says
One door, and when somebody leaves
Round 3. Somebody’s ride is leaving, somebody’s cousin just walked in, and it’s already 10 o’clock. On paper, that’s the whole rotation redone by hand.
Right here, it’s one door. Everything that changes mid-tournament is in here.
Want a little drama? Hold back the last round, and reveal the winners yourself.
What if somebody has to leave during the tournament? If there’s another player to take their seat, swap them. The new player picks up right where they left off — same seat, same score.
What if players have dropped out? Remove and reshuffle. The rounds you’ve played stay exactly as they are, and the rest are drawn again for the room you’ve got.
What if a filler player for a make-up round has gone home? Just change who fills in. Same seat, same table, same partner.
Running out of time
What if someone is running late? You can cut a round. Got time for one more? Add one.
Another way to manage your time is to increase or decrease the number of hands you play.
Some formats like to drop the lowest round, or several. You can set it any time before you finalize the tournament.
The seating and the scores
Do you want to reshuffle the rounds again? It’s no problem. It’s just one click on the button.
What if you don’t like the seeding arrangement? You can choose the seating yourself.
How strict should the scoring be? By default, partners have to agree. Tick a box, and the whole table has to agree — or play without checking at all.
Is somebody keeping score on paper? Tick their name. You or an opponent put their scores in, and their table doesn’t wait on them.
Is somebody playing on paper, or is their card out of date? Send the seating to their phone. They scan the code, pick their name, and see their table. You can also send them a link in a text message. It’s that simple, and there’s no sign-in needed.
Ending the tournament
What if the power goes out? You’ve run past your time limit with the hall? End it early and finish on the rounds you played. Change your mind, and put them back.
When the last table’s in, finalize,
and everybody’s phone gets the results.
